Education is a journey
we walk together
WELCOME
Connection, Collaboration, Community.
At Harmonia, we see families as our closest partners. Harmonia views education as a shared journey. Daily communication, open-house sessions and regular family meetings help nurture trust and transparency. Families are invited to participate in community life through seasonal festivals, workshops, dialogues and collaborative projects. We value relationship and connection, not just updates.
Outdoor Co-working Space
We welcome parents to make use of the Botanic Garden for working, meeting, or socializing. The Botanic Garden cafeteria serves as an outdoor co-working space where parents can gather, connect, and work in a relaxed setting.
FAQ
Harmonia is an association of education professionals delivering a high quality, research informed learning programme, supported by expert guidance and an inspiring outdoor environment. Our curriculum provides daily school life in a yurt within Rome’s Botanical Garden, integrating real world, inquiry-based learning within a bilingual, holistic framework that honours cultural awareness, ecological connection and social diversity.
At Harmonia, we embrace a personalized approach to education in which each child's character, interests and strengths are recognized and supported. Our intention is to guide children through experiences that help them grow academically, socially and emotionally. Our approach is holistic and child-centred. We observe, listen and adapt so that learning feels meaningful and appropriate to each child’s stage of development. Curiosity, confidence and agency are encouraged throughout their journey.
Harmonia currently offers Grades 1 and 2, typically for children born in 2019 and 2020. Placement is guided by developmental readiness rather than chronological age alone. Children develop at different rhythms. A child of five may be ready for Grade 1 learning, just as some older children may benefit from consolidating foundational skills in an early primary environment. Exceptions to the typical age range are considered thoughtfully, in close partnership with families, and always with the child’s wellbeing and long-term success at the centre. Children are grouped within their grade scope, and learning is personalised to meet each child where they are developmentally.
Our educators are experienced, reflective practitioners with backgrounds in dual-language and holistic education. Each brings their own expertise while working collaboratively as a team.

Literacy, numeracy, science, and language development are taught intentionally every day. Learning is structured, planned and documented but delivered in ways that are developmentally appropriate, relational and deeply engaging through play, real life inquiry, meaningful projects and responsive teaching that meets each child exactly where they are.
Harmonia does not follow a single national curriculum, but learning outcomes are mapped against internationally recognised expectations. Families can consult our Orientation & System Mapping table to understand likely placement across Italian, British, American, French, and IB systems, ensuring clarity and confidence for globally mobile families.
A dual-language approach means children learn in and through English and Italian across all subjects, not only during language lessons.
Languages are used throughout the day in:
• Literacy and numeracy
• Science and inquiry
• Play, projects, and problem-solving
• Routines, discussions, and daily life
Children acquire language naturally through immersion, meaningful use, and emotional connection.
We aim to support multilingualism in a way that honours both local culture and global perspectives. Children can develop confidence in both languages through natural, meaningful exposure.
With time and consistent exposure, yes. Fluency develops naturally through daily use. Reading and writing in both languages are introduced when children are developmentally ready.
Children spend a significant part of each day outdoors. Nature is our third teacher and supports learning across subjects, physical development, creativity and emotional wellbeing.
Emotional wellbeing is central to our approach. Educators are trained in holistic and conscious practices, drawing from Steiner education, anthroposophy, and whole-child development.
Children are supported to regulate emotions, build empathy, and develop self-awareness within warm relationships, clear boundaries, and predictable rhythms.
Families are invited to attend an Open Day or book a visit. Applications are considered carefully to ensure alignment between the family and the school’s values.
